Torque stix are a joke, very dependant on line air pressure and gun settings, they use them at tire stores, yes, and it's useless. My car's alloy wheels are notorius for distortions with uneven lug torque, resulting in brake rotor warp and vibration...they have to be torqued evenly at 100 ft/lbs...last time I had new tires put on, I watched them use Torque stix after I told them specifically to use a torque WRENCH on them....
Got home and went over them with the torque wrench, they ranged from 60-120 ft/lbs...brake shimmy all the way home....
