Pavers over existing concrete patios

We have laid pavers on existing stopes and porches but never on patios at ground level. Do you guys lay pavers over existing concrete patios? If you do, do you garueete the existing base. I have been wondering about this for sometime. I would rather take out the old concrete and start fresh so I now it is done right.

Dig it up. We did a patio replacement that was bid for removing one concrete patio...

We dug up the concrete patio recently only to find that underneath was a layer of pavers, underneath of which was another layer of concrete follwed by a thick layer of concrete with rebar.

If the patio is sound and they just want a new look and you can't sell them a total tear out with a new patio, why don't you sell them some outdoor tile. Install is easy, you have the saw for any cuts and grouting is easy.....No sense losing a job.

Sell them flagstone mortared to the patio. It will look awesome and half the work is already done.
