Anybody compared a Kohler 30 to 28 EFI
I am looking at getting a 72 Hustler super, I talked to a dealer who claims the 30 will show you it is more powerful than a 28 EFI if you run them side buy side. Can anybody verify this? He said the 30 ran the 72 better than the 28 but these are the updated 30's.
Has anybody compared a 66 to a 72? |

From what ive head the 72s seems to lack power in heavy conditions. Id go 66 or 60 with a larger engine.

I haven't run a "fixed" 30 Kohler yet.
On paper they should kick butt. Hopefully, what ever the problem is affects power output. Because the 30 Kohler Lazer I demoed was a DOG. The 28 EFI walked all over it. The 21cc hydro pumps take way too much away from this mower.

That seems strange to me because my 27 60 is fine for me. On hills I do have to slow down and I find if you mow at a normal spped through thick grass it is fine. I do not have a problem with the pumps on these mowers.

It all depends on what your used to power wise.
I thought my 27hp LC Kawi 60" Lazer was slightly underpowered... Come to find it really had more power than I have now. I see RPM drops of 5-600 RPM when mowing. Never saw my LC Lazer drop more than 300 RPM, and that was with the bagger on! Only difference I see is the pumps.

So far the 30hp 66 side discharges great power wise. I've heard others talk bad about the 30 but I'm not really having any trouble yet at 116 hrs. If you dump the sticks or go up a hill it will pull down but usually it will pick back up no problem unless your going up to steep of hill. I like mine so far. Also when I demoed the Lastec Articulator 28hp efi engine 61" I noticed it would lose power more than this 30 66.

In the cool weather up here 80's and 90 "s the 30 kicks butt, but after thinking about it the only time the engine acts up on me was in the high heat99 + temps and hills. What would cause that? You have more heat and humidity I would try to find someone down there he has sold 1 to , and ask more ???.
