best ztr mower

how would you guys rank as the best large scale ztr with a large engine and a 72" deck.

1. Ferris is 5100z
2. Toro 500d
3. Deere 997
4. Scag sabre tooth

I have demos set up for next week but just wanted some opinions going in.

This question has been asked so many times. I would do a search. No one will agree because different people have favorites. Are you looking at diesels only?

I honsetly think that the ZTRs are getting to be same, quality wise. I think you need to really weigh heavily your dealer support.

we have a scag wild cat, and tiger cub, and two scag WB and asside from a pully sefl destructing they have never missed a beat...

Marc's correct there...machines break down, it's a fact of life. How fast your dealer gets ya back up and running (loaner, replacement, having the parts in stock, etc.) is the real issue here.

Size and particularily weight is an issue. The 5100 with an operator goes over 2000 pounds I know.

I agree a good dealer will make a big diffrence! There are variations in machines and I do not use any you have listed but have demoed all of them. Dealer support is why I run what I run.

Yeah I run deere front mounts right now and like their service but my dealer sells the deere ferris and scag. The weight issue is pretty equal among them bc they are all the biggest models they each sell and none weigh more than that front mount at 2300lbs. Im not concerned about the size or weight or service. I was just wanting to know any problems you guys have with any of these and how they cut and stripe. Also I am getting a smaller ztr that will be lighter and have a 61" deck.

If you have a dealer close enough to you, take a look at what Hustler has to offer.
