tygon line

What is wrong with tygon line. The shop I work at everything that comes in if it has tygon the guy I help says change it. He don't like the stuff. When I do stuff on the side that's what I use. He likes to use OEM fuel line.

That's interesting. Tygon fuel line is way better than oem fuel line

Don't know he's been doing small engines for about 30 years his dad did it before him. But anything that comes in tygon yellow or green whatever color he says change. He says it shrinks. Uses husqvarna line in husqvarna uses poulan line in poulans. You get the picture.

You can take the curmudgeons word for it. "Or take the 1`st replies word"

"That's interesting. Tygon fuel line is way better than oem fuel line "

OR you can prove to yourself and him that either he is right or wrong by experimentation. Write an experiment where you test tygon vs OEM in a series of many different controlls/variables. Your controll is tygon and oem. Then you apply some variables. Temps, storing gas inside for long time using stabilizers ECT.

I would think you can get some good scientific results with about 20 or 30 (AT LEAST 2) pieces of equipment for a series of years. Then report your findings. That is how you truly find out.

I use tygon because I have been using it for many years and know its quality over time. But don't get it twisted.. Oem line is good. and Both will rot to dust if you do not use fresh stabilized gas, leave it in the sun, Or do any other stupid action your users manual warns against

Look, Tygon, the true Tygon, makes a whole slew of tubing for different applications. The true Tygon is pretty reliable stuff, that will change a bit over time, but generally works pretty dam well. Nothin' wrong with using the real Tygon.
The problem comes from bootleg "Tygon" tubing, and some vinyl formulations that look yellow "like Tygon", now most of them will get hard and shrink.

BTW...pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

And, oh yeah, watch out fer donkey cart mechanics... Let us know how that " scientific " experiment goes!

I agree with Fish...The REAL Tygon holds up pretty good..Thats all I ever use..

That aside..It sounds like the guy that doesnt like the stuff is signing your paycheck..
Your choice looks fairly simple...

I should specify... I have never had an issue with any real Tygon. I've got several sizes in the 50 foot rolls for my small engine shop. I've always replaced oem with real Tygon since it's so much better.
