Hydraulic wing motors

We have many Hustler Rangewings 400/440/4500/4600s. On the newer units with hydraulic wing decks we have problems occassionally with seal leaks. Motor part numbers are 758961 (A Rotation) and 761239 (C Rotation), the seal kit is part number 759134. According to our local dealer only the seal kit is available to repair these motors. We have noticed that most of shafts are getting pitted at the seal area. Is any other parts available for these motors, i.e. new shafts? Complete motors are expensive!!! Do you have any part breakdowns on the motors? Are parts available anywhere else, if not from Excel?

Clay,

We apologize for not getting back to you sooner. We have referred this matter to our customer service dept. They are working on it, but unfortunately this week all but one of them is out of town and he has his hands full answering the phones. He mentioned to me that he understands exactly what you're talking about and indicated that at this time all we offer is a seal kit or a replacement motor. He said he was trying to track down the vendor to see what other options would be available. We will get back with you on this next week. We apologize for the delay.

Clay,

I just got some further info on the hydro motors on our hydro Range Wing. We have available a Shaft Seal only - part number 779777. This will save you quite a bit of money over the cost of a seal kit. As to the shaft as a service part, that is not available from us. If you have shaft problems, it is probably best to replace the whole motor.

Clay,

You could try a local hydraulic repair house that carries the same brand of motors. Some time they are able to get replacement parts straight from the manufacturer of the motor.

Good luck!

I plan on trying, however from what I understand is that these motors are from England and are not widely used in the US, except by Excel. Not many markings on the motors to identify OEM or OEM part numbers.
