has anyone filed a property lien against anyone? I have a person that owes almost $2000. Does it cost me a lot? how do I go about filing one? any help would be great!!

Call your county clerk. Price will vary, but it should be less than $100.

Move quickly. Your window to place a lien is limited.

But you can always sue - though it isn't very fun.

Although there is some letters to write before hand to notify proper authorities of your intentions. I find that this often makes things happen, just writing the letter. There is a standardized process to do this, and the information is available (although, unfortunately I cannot tell you where to get this). I attended a seminar on this in Pittsburgh a few years back and they gave all the information out, but stated that it is available on the net.

Check with your state because not all states have the same lien laws.

If they don't live the place where the work is being done try to ayction the house of you will get your money alot faster than a lein and they have to pay for the cost of doing it even if they pay after the fact.We did the lein then the auction but they can't live in the same house.Ask your laywer what to do.
