I hate how I never get updates from this site anymore.....

I know there is a few of us that are/were going to take the pesticide class but I think we are all waiting until the future classes maybe in the summer as the whole thing really seems so unorganized.

had one customer complain because we were plowing with it only being slush.... had to explain to her if we didn't plow then it was going to turn all to ice eventually

I didnt plow it rained pretty much the whole time for us only an inch of snow if that.

Well, the second round of the new pesticide classes are just about done, any comments? I personally was a bit unhappy with the way it was ran, but it sure beats the old system. Anyone take the exams yet since these new classes?

Not familiar with the old system, other than the 5 year requirement -so I have no point of reference, but comparing to college courses and seminars, I found them to be bearable. Some of the speakers that I liked better, the guy near me hated, so I guess no matter what/how it is presented, someone isn't going to be happy... Most interesting to me were the presentations technically least related to the certificate (Shoreland Protection Act updates, for ex.) Yes, a bit disorganized, but not to a point of being counter-productive. A lot of repetition (sprayer calibration 3 days in a row - yawn) but it makes studying easier.

I was told there won't be anymore course series until fall, at least by these guys, because of the time investment on their end, getting speakers, etc ... So the current crop of applicants is it for now. Seems they have 80 or more, which will take a while to get through the orals, at 5 applicants a day average.

Sending in the resume today - dreading the orals: since I have no prior experience (by their yardstick) I suspect they will be out to wring me dry and fail me if they have *any* doubts. Ugggh!

I'm looking for a used walk behind at some point this spring? Should I definitely go Hydro or should I consider gear driven?

In my opinion I would go for the Hydros for sure. Easier on the hands and the belt ones Ive owed they slip alittle when wet. Hydro units will be alittle bit more money though.
