1999 f-250

1999 f250 v10 5speed 26,000 miles extended cab 4x4 leather seats tow package short bed for $12,900. Can I expect to get 12mpg? Probably not right. I would like to tow my dump trailer and I don't care what mpg i get while I'm working, cause somebody else is paying. This looks to me like a good deal. Anybody else have opinions. (By the way i will probably be getting a high mileage ranger to do running around in.) It also has a 3" lift in front and a 1/2" lift in back I was told. I am going to go check it out soon.

pass on it 2 reasons why?
1. it has a lift mileage goes down tires and front end parts take more of a beating. Plus taller tires tend to roll more on their sidewalls.
2. a shortbed no cargo room.

Nice truck, good price. I have a 05 F-350 srw V-10 6 spd and avg 11 mpg.
Wish I had another daily driver but other than that I am happy with the V-10

i think its a decent price concidering how much new ones are, the milelage is low and it looks clean. couple of things to check: check the front ball joints, especially if this had larger tires, ball joints are about $1200 to replace. the 99 has a dana 50 front axle, weaker. 2nd, check the bottoms of the doors for rust, the rubber strip holds moisture there. after that make sure there are no exaughst leaks at the manifolds. if she checks out it sounds good. as far a sthe milelage being off due to larger tires, i dont think it will make that much of a difference. i had several trucks with lifts and we calculated the acutual difference to about 10%. so you truck could have around 29-30k.

Get the VIN number and do a CARFAX search on it and if you are friends with the local Ford dealer get him to run a Ford OASIS report on this truck it will tell you all the repairs that have been done on this truck Good luck and the mileage you will probaly get will be in th 9-11 MPG range

the manual will help alot fuel mileage wise. a buddy of mines gas v8 gets 18 highway due to the 6 speed. so you may get decent. and becareful with the early v 10's their known for throwing spark plugs through the hood! all other advice is good to. and its a 5 speed?? dont think ive seen a super duty manual that wasnt a 6 speed....

Always a lesson, never a failure.

I don't think short bed is a reason to pass, its all personal opinion. I run all short beds, I find it easier to tow and plow with.
