Anyone with GMC or Chevy 6.0's

Anyone with GMC or Chevy 6.0's, I was wondering when you are not towing or hauling do you drive in D or 3. When towing all I use is 3 with tow/haul button. Always got mixed advice, like 3 but you know how these trucks are on gas.

ALWAYS in D. Pulling, or plowing. Never found a situation where I needed to do anything different.
