Northstar Pressure Washer from NorthernTool

Looking to purchase an upscale pressure washer. Want to stay in the $5-$6K range. Any recommendations? Is the NorthStar trailer rig worth the money?

Thanks in advance.

Before I purchase this $6K piece of equipment, I would like to speak or email to anyone who is familiar with this unit.

If anyone here has experience with this equipment or can get me in touch with someone that currently uses this washer, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks much

I do not know about that unit specifically, but I will break down the components and then give you my advice.

It has a 18HP Honda (very good engine and very common on pressure washers.)
It has a CAT Pump. These are considered by some to be top of the line pumps in pressure washing
It is direct drive instead of belt, but that is not a bad thing, just a slight less longevity. My unit is direct drive.

So, yes, I feel like the unit is solid and will be very dependabe.

Now, my opinion on thsi particular rig:

- The trailer is very small. No room for extra stuff. If you are going to use the in the commercial pressure washing business, you will have extra stuff.

My suggestion would be to buy the skid (same PW unit, but no trailer, tank, etc.) http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...7421_200317421

and buy your own trailer, tank, reels, etc. and rig it up yourself.

Here is a link to my rig in the process of being built.
http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=175249

I have just over $5K in this rig. The PW unit cost me $1900 (used), and I got a few extras from the guy for a total of $2700. Here is a break down, and I will do a comparison with the cost of the Norther Skid for you.
Mine Yours
PW Unit $1900 $4000
Surface Cleaner $750 $750 (Can get a good one from Norther Tool for $400)
Trailer $1000 $1000
Tank(525g&50g) $500 $500
Reels (200' cap) $330 $330
Chemical Pump $85 $85
Misc Access $600 $600
Total $5165 $7265
Misc Access include:
300' Chemical Hose
Marine Battery (For chemical system)
Jumper hose from PW to hose reel.
Plumbing valves, fitting, etc.
Straps for tank
Extra Hose

For about $1000 more, you can build your trailer unit yourself, be on a larger trailer, include a surface cleaner and a low pressure chemical application system.

I will try to get more pictures of my rig taken this evening while we are working. If you want to build one yourself using that skid unit, I will help provide you with contacts for the best prices and suppliers that I have found
while rigging my unit.

Send me a PM if you want to consider this and I will give you some links, part numbers, prices I paid and help advise you on building a unit. Once you have all of the pieces, you can put it together in a weekend easy.
