What bennifits do you get from your website?

The designer that made my logo offered me a pretty good deal on website design. I was considering it, but in complete honesty, I don't know how much it would really help me? Do you feel that your website gets you more work? Helps you upsell? Looking for feedback.

It will help a lot. If you don't do it you will eventually be behind the times. It is almost getting to that point now. The older generation could care less but I would say people age 35-50 business types use it all the time and people 35 and under use it for almost everything.

Just my opinion though.

Depending on your type of business. Being online can be huge. Being also in the computer repair industry. I see a lot of peoples computers. Almost all of them have looked up places to eat or to vacation. And I would say at least 85% of them have looked for some kind of contractor online. Looking for someone in the yellow pages is almost a thing of the past.

To encourage others to make it do more.

Some companies could have their site doing 4 times more, if they make it more widely known.

My site, for me:

- brings some work off the internet
- seems to make the flyers bring in much more, since they visit the site
- stores advice like watering tips, so my customers can review after an install
- stores my resume for download or reading
- puts dozens of photos at their fingertips, which a brochure can't do alone
- stores excerpts of testimonials
- enables a reference for contact, even if I move, or my phone changes

You stand a very good chance of finding new customers with a website.

For it to be successful however you've got to put some time into it. Don't think of the project as just web design, but also writing some content that says what you do and where you do it.
