I like that idea, thats a good one.
here's a link to a company that I used to make our "business card magnets"
They print on all types of different objects including frisbees.
Not sure if there any cheaper then what you've already found.

Speaking of business card magnets, if you have a neighborhood with alot of metal doors you can use the magnets to secure your flyer to the door, If the door happens to be wood you can use the magnet as a paper weight and place the flyer at the base of the door. The flyer may go in the trash but it's almost certain that the magnet is going on the fridge. When the need arises for lawn care there you are, right on the fridge.

I still think the plastic "Easter Egg" idea is a good one too.

Come-on, lets get some more responces here.
Lets here what you've got.

I'm actually going to try the easter egg idea, believe it or not.

I like the business cards posted at the beginning!

I guess my idea maybe is not novel, or really "different" -

Have any of you tried to put a funny cartoon on your flyers or doorhangers to get the customer's attention?

I'm talking about a cartoon related to whatever services you provide. For instance:

Lawn Service - I have a cartoon which depicts a man laying on the ground, and there's a "mower track" all over his yard, it knocks down the fence, and destroys various objects in the yard. The caption reads "Roger decided that his remote-controlled mower idea wasn't ready for marketing yet..."

Snow Removal - On my flyers this past winter, I had a cartoonish-looking picture of a house, and on the front walk, a guy buried up to his waist in snow, holding a shovel, with a big fat red nose, looking all sick, and I captioned below it "don't be this guy!"

Now I haven't decided if I should give the "r/c mower" a shot on some flyers or not. I'm not sure if it conveys professionalism or if it makes my company look like a bunch of jokers(provided the rest of the flyer is well done and professional in appearance). But I guess it's an idea.

Everyone's probably been to a sporting event where the cheerleaders come out during time-outs and at half-time and throw out spongy nerf type balls or t-shirts with some companies logo printed on them.
Anyone ever look into what a promotional event like that would cost?
The crowd always seems to go wild for them.

How about the post-it type flyers. I know it is a flyer but I think it is a unique idea and plan on trying it myself.

You could always test it by placing it the fliers in one certain neighborhood and seeing if your responce rate is better or worse then other areas.

Without a doubt the post-it notes are unique.
I was actually thinking about having some more made up this year for informing our clients about their fertilization apps instead of having the yard signs made up again. Basically they would say something like " Your yard was fertilized today____(date)_______. Please keep off the grass bla, bla, bla. you get the idea.

Just though of something you could put inside the "Easter Eggs".
How about if you add a small piece of paper that says something like; "You may be the winner of one FREE months lawn care." please visit our website at www.xyz123.com and see if your a winner.

Then on all of the ads you put the same number (45879) and in on the the eggs the winning number (86467) or something like that. Then on your website you have a small section that talks about the contest and displays the winning number.

The biggest winner here is you since you just drove hundreds of people out your website where thay can learn more about your company, that kind of advertising could be priceless.
