Question for north east guys

Hey,

For anyone in the north east when do you calls start coming in for new sign ups? The last 2 days have been the warmest yet but they are forecasting cold/possibly snow for next week. Just wondering if its weird that I haven't had to many calls as of yet.

Cheers
Jeff

Xoopiter, I am near Kincardine off Lake Huron. Our phone started ringing the first of the week. We have about 10 jobs so far from these calls. However most are old customers just making sure we have their names on the list. It really depends on what type of work you do.
Lawn rolling 2 calls
Lawn sweeping, stone removal or "raking" 7 calls
Sand removal from highway bridge 1 call and scheduled for next week.
Hydro seeding 1 call and I referred him to someone else. I only dry seed.
If you want early spring money you need to offer early spring work. We likely sweep 40 or 50 lawns. Lawn rolling is something we hate but we also hate to turn down money. Branch cleanup this year is going to be big because of a bad ice storm we had. Broken brach removal from up in trees will also get us some work.

Hey,

I know where kincardine is, my friend has some family up there. Im about 1.5 hours from you. When do your lawn cutting contracts start coming in? We are already booking some early spring work like you say, just wondering when the actual residential contract calls will start rolling in.

Cheers
Jeff

Xoopiter, we don't have any on contracts anymore. Everyone is always late calling for lawn cutting. I guess they figure it will cut itself and we are the last resort. We don't do much advertising anymore so we don't get many new calls. We rely on referrals from our customers for new work. We figure if they take to trouble to ask someone about us then it will be worth our time to give them a price. My wife does the work I just fix the equipment, I work full time at a day job. I'm sure a few more days of sunny weather will get your phone ringing.

Hey,

Sounds like what I was thinking. Hear we are expecting some cold/snow next week so hopefully after that things will start to pour in.

Cheers

Im in MA. I usually dont start getting calls until the first week of April. Though I did get a call during that last warm spell.

I get antsy every year and worry about lack of new business... But by August I usually have at least 10 new clients. That way I can get rid of those pesky Dog Mess lawns.

I have tons of cleanups to do, I wish I would have been out this week. Still waiting on my help, will be here monday. I have been giving a lot of estimates on mulching jobs, 1 lawn install and another lawn renovation.
