Stihl v Echo - Combination Units

I'm looking at the Stihl and Echo lines of combination uints with multi-ange hedge trimmer and pruning (chain saw) attachments. Does anyone have a preference. Power, weight, noise & vibration - how do they compare in your mind?

I have the pas-260 with the pole pruner, trimmer, edger and articulating hedge trimmer and its great. No problems yet. I didn't think the pole pruner would be powerful enough but it has TONS of power.

i have the echo attachment series... and so far, its never been underpowered. ive used the brush blade, hedge trimmers and edger. we just picked up an Stihl attachment one but havent used it yet.we have a 110R w/ hedge trimmer and it is more powerful than the echo, but its also a lot heavier. the only other thing i do not like about the echos is that it takes 10 minutes to get them started.

pas 260 power head is the way to go. The 230 is ok but if you are gonna run a broom or paddle, you need the 260.

Any 260 power head that are hard to start probably have the non adjustable carbs which the dealer could have changed under warranty for you. If it's out of warranty, then you'll have to pick up the cost.

This has been covered on here a few times.

Night and day difference. All the new units have adjustements on them.

they did something to the carbs when i first got them. then they were ok for a few weeks then after that back to taking a while to get them to start. but after they start they run perfect.

When did they start coming stock with adjustable carbs? I was going to say mine is a peice of cake to start.

Is anyone concerned about the cost of rebuilding the new Stihl engines with the valves in the head? Also what about power and noise.
