Hello all,
I'm seeking advise from the professionals who know. I'm a homeowner with 5 acres to mow and am shopping for a good ZTR on a limited budget. I'm trying to decide between these two mowers:
Exmark LaserZ 52"; 23hp Kaw. w/ 1397hrs; '03 model I believe - $3800
2003 Cub Cadet M60 Tank 60"; 23hp Kaw. w/ 350hrs - $4200

I know Exmark's are good but should the 1400hrs concern me? The dealer says they've given everything a good inspection including bearings.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

We have 2 M 60's and they are great!!! They both have over 1000 hrs on them with no problems.That mower is going to last you a life time. JMO

I just sold two exmark lazer z's with 60 inch deck, both were in the late 90's models. Both had a 22hp kohler, one blew up at 1087 hrs and the other had 2384 hrs and still going strong..........I like the exmarks due to good cut and handling on a hill side. I think that I am going to get a Bad Boy this time around due to price and they look like they are built really good.

I would take the 60" Tank hands down. We have both a Lazer and a Tank and they are both great mowers. I would say they are equal in all aspects. So with that said I would take the Tank with the bigger deck and low hours for only $400 more. Are you sure about the 23hp kaw on the tank? Our M48 Tank has that engine and our mower is alot smaller than 60".

I think our 60" also has the 23 hp Kaw on it and it has plenty of power.

Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure of Cub Cadet's reputation on the commercial side since I only know them from the residential side.
The Exmark dealer impressed me more so than the Cub Cadet dealer. The Exmark was also all cleaned up & serviced while the Cub Cadet didn't look like anything was done to it.

Intresting because our M48 lacks power on hills and such. Might be the way the pullys are setup or something? The 18hp kohler on our old lazer hp 48" never slows down for anything but it has smaller pumps and wheel motors.

I'm with you on the Boy Boy Mowers... man they are awesome and then compare by price and they look even better. $4995 starting for a standard 60" or $7995 for the Lightning Z with full suspension chassis and suspension seat + the liquid cooled Kawi... no doubt what our next mowers will be.
