how much to you charge for 10,000 sq. ft.

basic weed and feed 48.00 to 58.00 per app.
being a new guy pricing is setting the standards
I wish i could get more i think the service is worth
more in todays market.
losing a customer on price effects me and the
new lco not getting the price the job deserves.

Charge what you think your worth! give your customers more than their moneys worth and they will be happy.

$48.00 seems about right to me, but we also take into account "difficulty factor"......Our route cards have a place for this:

A = easy
B = average
C = difficult
D = very difficult
J/D = able to use a John Deere 445 w/ 3-point hitch & a Spyker 220 electric spreader (15,000 - 500,000 sq.ft.)
R/O = ride-on (Perma Green) (10,000 - 25,000 sq. ft.)
B = Boom sprayer (LESCO Z-two)

We note the "difficulty factor" each time we do an estimate. That way we can send out the right equipment.

If a lawn has creeping Charlie, we charge more, cuz we use a more expensive herbicide for it.

Watch out for steep hills....especially when pricing aeration.

There's more, but this is the jist of how we price.

10k gets about 90 bucks for us. Charge what you think you're worth, but more importantly know your costs! Fert., labor, fuel, and drive time are just a few of many factors you need to consider before you price a lawn. A job is a job, but I'd rather not have one than lose money doing it. Sell your service to the customer, and what you offer that your competition doesn't.

Trugreen has lower there prices!!!

I been getting beat all spring had to lower to keep customers. they are at 3.00 a 1000 sq feet

10 k is $53.00 You want to make $5.30 per k on all lawns not exceeding 13k. Then the price should go down 15% making your acre cost at $150.00 per 43,000 sq. ft. Thats a nice margin to go buy. You will not get all you bid at this but all your lawns will have nice profit margins. Set the standard and you can set the price. PERIOD THE END!

Just like when you go to fill up with gas...basic economics says get what the market will bear. Some lawns do entail a "difficlulty factor" due to slope, specific weeds, turf-type, etc. I also price lawns with dogs in the back lawn higher since they will require notification prior to the app. and are unlikely to respond as well as ones without them. That way, if the customer gets sticker-shock I simply suggest treating the front and sides only at a much lower price and it makes us more efficient in treating the lawn.

My five step program will cost me 9.85 per 1000 sf for the whole season, I charge 38.00 per 1000 sf for that same program. This is the cost for the whole season NOT per application. So your 10000 sf lawn would cost 380.00 for the year which includes one blanket app of weed control and unlimited spot treatments for weed control (I use Escalade for my weed control) and one application of MACH II for grubs. I divide the season cost by eight and bill the customer each month the same cost. This would be for the months of April 1st through November 31st. I feel that I am offering a high end program for the customer while covering my costs. Actually, I have been told that the above costs are slightly below what TGCL is getting in the Chicago area.

FYI, My six step program which ads a second application of 0-0-20 with Dimension in May costs the customer 52.44 per 1000 for the year
My seven step program which includes the 0-0-20 with Dimension and one preventative application of Andersons Golden Eagle Fungicide will cost the customer 81.32 per 1000 sf for the year.
Finally my eight step program which includes the 0-0-20 with dimension and two applications of Golden Eagle Fungicide 3-4 weeks apart will cost the customer a whopping 110.20 per 1000 sf for the season. I have never sold the 7 or 8 step program to a customer since I offered it.
