Weird Looking Solenoid
Was out on a work order yesterday when told about a valve that wouldn't fire from the controller. Opened the valve box lid and and here's what was found. I've never seen this before in all my time working irrigation.
Also... valve box was clear of gopher activity but there were a lot of cockroaches in the box.

I have seen solenoids do something similar ...it seems water gets inside the solenoid housing and will swell up from corrosion and the outer sheathing on the wires will also swell up and be like jelly/soft....

Maybe the wires jellied up and the cockroaches nibbled on it???
