Welding help from the master.

Cantoo - love your welding. You are an artist for sure. I have a Ventrac with an old Steiner blade I use to push snow. bothe the pins that hold it on came off - also have a slip scoop so I was able to finish all the snow jobs.
Anyway any hints on getting those rewelded so this does not happen again. I was pushing and then backing up over and over and the just sheered off?? Maybe sheered is a hard word cause they left the holes where the where so pulled out? This tractor sure does move the snow - very happy with it but, since I don't weld it's a bummer. so i'm talking about the pins that stick out and the c hooks go over it to hold the blade on. I have a welder and all the stuff (mask, rods, etc) never used it but time to learn. Do I just stick the little rod that fell out into the hole and weld the back side and around front - any tips>

I also use the slip scoop for lots of mulch moving great unit for that too.

Barefoot james, not sure if you got it fixed or not, I don't hang around here much anymore. I got hooked on the firewood thing and spend my days at the Arboristsite now. And to make things worse I screwed up and sold all of my steiner tractor units. I thought I priced them high and damn thay all sold. I'm still looking for more units though, I have all my attachements yet. As for the pins, I make my own brackets and I just drill a little bigger size hole than the pin, put the pin in the hole and then crank up some high heat and weld from the backside, grind smooth if you want. You need the heat and space for penetration.

I just ordered a new Steiner 430 with 30 hp kohler with 3 pt. hitch, duel tires, 72" mowing deck, slip scoop. This will be my first unit, from guys that own steiner, ventrac what are some ins and outs on the machine? I will be using it for mowing and landscaping duties and maybe doing little snow removal. I have had lots of differnt zrt, walkbehind mowers and wanted a machine that could help the scag walkbehind on slopes i mow and stop some rutting issues with walkbehind on slopes. Plus i have a farm that i have endless things i can do with it when not using it for business work projects.
