If I'm not mistaken don't they use the front Diff housing as a resevoir for the hydro system?

Type F is specified but I know that Valvoline and Lucas make a high mileage tranny additive for hydro systems. We have had great results with assing Lucas auto tranny additive to noisy hydro systems on ZTR mowers.

Yes they do use the front diff as a reservoir. They were popular machines back when I was younger. I know I did my share of pump rebuilding on the old SU Pumps. I always stick with the OEM fluid recomendations.
