JD Freedom 42" deck

I'm having trouble getting the upper belt on the deck snug. We took the deck off last night because only one of the blades were turning, so the lower belt had to be replaced. We got the deck back on, but the upper belt isn't snug. It looks about 2 sizes too big. Any clues what we might be doing wrong? If I could find the digital camera I would post pics.

Mower: JD LT166
Deck: Freedom 42"

Thank you in advance.

Hey, my mom's looking for someone to race. She has a built MTD tractor.

Try gardenweb.com and go to the tractor forum. There are lots of Freedom 42 deck owners on that site. I used to have one of these machines years ago and it cut very well. That belt is a bear and you need to get the blades timed perfectly. There are several John Deere dealers who post on that forum from time to time so it's a good bet that you will get a response.
