Changing oil on walker mower

I have a 13hp Kawasaki motor in my walker mower and i am going to change the oil in it Monday. And would like to know if i i use 10w-30 Amsoil in the motor if it would be good idea.i have heard that using synthetics oil in mower engines screws it up but i thought i would ask..

Thanks
Mike

As long as you have about 300 - 500 hours on the engine, you can switch to synthetics, I would run straight 30wt oil amsoil should have that in a synthetic.
