Fh601v-s09

On a JD GX255

Will not start.Backfires thru the carb.

Things we checked

Turns over good
Spark both coils good
Flywheel key good
Compression 95 both cylinders
Fuel shutoff valve good
Fuel pump good
Fuel to cylinders yes
Valve clear .005

Took off intake and inspected intake valves. Both are opening and closing.
With intake vales closed filled both intake chambers with gas.No gas leaked out in 24 hours.

Is there anyway a gear on the cams or crank could of slipped out of time?

Can Somebody please help me!!!!!!!!

Not very common, But have you checked the flywheel key ?

I had one not too long ago that stripped half the teeth off the cam gear so anything is possible.

Flywheel key is good.

Are the gears keyed on the crank and cam shafts?

If she is junk where would be the best place to buy a new motor.

Man just 59 hrs on her.

If it werent for bad luck

Any Kawasaki engine dealer can get you a new engine for that...although that engine is probably not the original engine either...

FH601V-FS09 I think is the latest...I just put one on something recently. But S09 is not a JD engine. Most JD Kawasaki engines end in S00.
