Shind. air/fuel mitxure screw rare?

Picked up a carb. for a T-260, and noticed it had an adjustment screw for the mixture. (I was glad it had one) I did want to ask my buddy (he runs the shop) before I left, if it should be more or less preset... There happen to be another mechanic there, and he said I was lucky to have one with it. How many people's Shindaiwas have this adjustment screw?

I've had a bunch of T-230s and none of them have had one that I could find. But then I've never needed to adjust the mixture either.

The first time I changed the plug in this last T-260, it looked too lean (real "white/grey") for my taste.

I have a 260 & 270. One, (I think the 260) has a air mixture screw but the other doesn't.

I wonder if it has to do with how old it is. Didn't they have to have it non-adjustable to meet some emissions level?

Believe It or Not. Your dealer can not install an adjustable carb on a unit that comes with the non adjustable one,( the big daddy EPA may be watching), because if anyone tells and I'm sure all of you would tell (joking) the EPA will slap a Large fine on him.
