Mulching Kit?
I have a Fastrak 42" which I love but need to be able to mulch. Does Hustler offer a mulching kit for this mower? Part number? Thanks....

I also have a question regarding the mulching kits: I'm currently considering the Mini-Z 19HP Kawasaki. My dealer tells me that some decks for the Mini-Z require a blade swap while others do not (depending on the deck s/n). First, what is the difference in the decks that make some need the blade swap and others not? Second, if I do need a blade swap, will the mulching blades have the same quality as the original Fusion blades?

Not sure why hes telling you about a blade swap other than when using the mulch kit you need to use mulching blades.
There was a time we didnt use Fusions on the Mini Z, but its been 2 years since we have used them as the std blade. The Fusion blades are only available in stock high lift from us, not in Gator or mulching versions. They will be of the same quality just not Fusion blades that last longer. Pj

Well. when I asked him the price of the mulching kit for the Mini-Z (19/52) he said that it depends on the deck because some decks used the stock blades with only a baffle and others needed baffle and different blades. He said it would depend on the s/n of the deck. I guess not all of the 19/52s he has in stock are the same? Now I'm a little confused as to which mower to pick. I suppose I couldn't go wrong if I picked the one with the latest s/n? Thanks!

The only difference in the kits is the discharge cover plate, the older serial # units have a smaller deck opening, the newer ones have a larger opening. At the same time we change the deck opening we went to the Fusion blade as std equipment. He shouldn't have any of the older style small deck opening models in stock, its possible though. Pj

Your kit came with and you have the wavy mulching blades.
The Fusions came stock on your mower, you don't use them with the mulch kit, they are not mulching type blades, they will not perform any where near what mulching blades will when used with a full mulching kit.

I would check your deck pitch and try cutting at varying heights also.
