Red Max EB7000 Blower Confusion

I need some help from any one out there who owns or knows about the Red Max EB7000 blower. Red Max's literature claims that it has an air volume of 730 CFM. Where is this measurement? In the housing or in the tubes? If it is in the tubes, then this blower would be awesome. However, I find the figure hard to believe since the Shindaiwa EB630 and the Echo PB650 both have air volumes of 613 CFM and 630 CFM in the tubes. Both of these blowers have similiar engine displacements to the Red Max (62 or 63 cc). I have e-mailed Red Max for an answer but have yet to receive one. So, what is the truth?
Thanks.

This might help.

If found two of your answers by searching for CFM in the search.

So A Shindaiwa 630 is a RedMax with Shindaiwa stickers, and the sweeper attachment that RedMax has is built by Shindaiwa.
I hope this helps.

The echo PB-650 is the most powerful backpack blower ever made, 210mph and 650cfms at the tube end. But the Shinds and Reds are prob, made just a little better. Ive got the PB-601 with 535cfms at the pipe and thats all i really need 2yrs old and no problems so far. Marks Mowing Service

Well, I e-mailed RedMax about this very subject in the Spring. They replied with a "this measurement is taken at the housing as most all manufacturers do the same". Well, Echo lists both, no fuzzy math! 650 at the pipe, 1200 at the housing! 210 Mph, and not any heavier than the lesser models. My only complaints so far are the stiff flex tube, and the slight vibrations at lower RPM's. At high revs, it is smooth as silk. The flex tube may break in over the years. Overall, a very good investmet so far!

Thanks guys for the information. I was a little suspicious of Red Max's claims. Glad to see I am right. Is the Shindaiwa EB630 a better choice. The new echo PB650 is very impressive. Finally, anyone if Stihl plans to upgrade the BR400/420 to compete with these new blowers?

stihl br420

i got a br400 last year because i liked the tub mounted throttle. this is why i didnt get the redmax and the echo had a gas tank in the middle of the machine and was hard to fill the gas tank so i went witht he stihl. great machine and popular around here so i got the new one the 420 but i hate it. the filter cover was redone and is harder to take off to clean the filter, the gas tank opening is a little smaller and wont fit my tank piece like the other blower, the tube right where it comes from the housing is cheap plastic and right where the tube goes to the handle bends easily i hate it because it cuts off the air flow and pushes away from me i am not happy with this machine and am planning on writing to stihl about it i am not looking forward to fall where it will be used 6 hrs aday for a month.

Never had a problem filling gas on anything mower related. Just what type of cans are you filling them with?

I too liked the tube throttle, but the PB-650 doesn't come with it yet. Told myself that I'd get the kit to switch over, but find myself liking the hip mounted.

gas tanks

i have two 2 gallon tanks that have ends for pouring out of, the ends just fit into the stihl so i dont have to use funnel, the new stihl blower's tank has a smaller opening and i cant fit it in. the echo the opening i felt was small and awkward just my opinion. can you see the tank when looking over the machine like you can on stihls? i didnt think of that til after i bought the blowers if i could see it. i used a used redmax 4300 that i got from a neighbor who worked for a boston landscape company i think he said they update their 20 blowers every year and the year i talked to him they just bought 10 new stihls so that had an impact on my purchase. the redmax was great and it had the tank like the stihl for easy filling, also the hip mounted throttle i didnt like at first but i got adjusted to it, it works fine when doing leaves but the tube mounted is better for me when i do curb cleanups since i can go to low throttle with one hand. i just want to know because as soon as echo has a tube mounted throotle on the 650 im trading in the newer stihl.

Last time I checked, gas cans were cheaper than BP blowers!! We all get thick headed and set in our ways, but your gas can problem just sounds silly!?
I have the old Eagle 2.5 gal metal can with rubber 1/2" X 8" spout with a removable rubber stopper in the end. Been using this particular can since 1981 !

The PB-650 already has a provision for the tube throttle. Brackets already there, cable brackets already mounted on flextube. It probably is already available, they just probably aren't shipping with them yet. Call your dealer.
