When doing core aeration and overseeding, you would use a starter fertilizer. The starter fert will improve the existing grass by making the root system stronger and it will help with the germination of new seeds, and the roots of new seedlings.
The winterizer fert would be applied before winter to help in greenup next spring.

So you can still apply winterizer even if you over seed?

If overseeding, I would use starter fertilizer to get the seeds and roots growing. Then winterizer in late november...
