It's not an easy choice. I'll vote for the top one, just because its a little friendlier looking and more personalized. For me, I'd pick the small guy named Molt, whereas the other looks more chain-like (big guy).

I'm gonna have to say the second for these reasons:

1. It has more symmetry.
2. Less colors means cheaper to screen/vinyl print.
3. Will be easier to "digitize" for embroidery
4. Has a "tough guy" fell that portrays strong manual labor.

Just my 2 cents.

Nothing says you can't use them both.

I would put use the top one for print or mass comm. but I would use the bottom one for tshirts. Maybe use the bottom one in the "logo" area on the front of the T (about 2''x2'') and use the top one on the back of the T.

Maybe have your business cards printed on both sides, and have one logo on each side. Everytime I hand a card out, people flip them over to see if they are printed on the back. When the customer asks why its printed on both sides tell them you couldn't make up your mind, ask them which they like better, and use it for small talk. That way you just became the guy they remember.

I'd like to see the bulldog from the top image, with the work clothes on, placed within the bottom image.

I will agree with Team Green as to the bottom one has more to offer regarding "branding". Symetry, printing, and it also has your mission statement. I just think it's more appealing.
