Prep for Seeding

I put a thread in the lawn maintenance section and havn't gotten any input yet so I thought I would ask you guys.

I am looking at adding either a Harley Rake or ATI Preseeder to my lineup for new seedings this fall. What do you recommend?

I already have a 30hp tractor so I would like to go with a 3 pt mount. But would consider getting a skid loader mount (as I need a skid loader anyway). What do you all recommend?

I am currently looking at a used ATI Preseeder but it is fixed and isn't hydraulic swing and had to be adjusted manually. Is this one ok?

What services do you all offer?

I offer fert, chem (weed and insect), mole control, seeding and aeration.

Do any of you offer new or renovation seeding, or do you only offer interseeding/overseeding?

I was just curious as I was surprised I didn't receive any responeses to this question on here (fert and chem) or in the lawn renovation section of Lawnsite.

If you have any experience using powered rakes such as a Harley Rake, Preseeder or Landpride, I would like to get your opinion on this equipment.

We have all of the above, Harley Rake for our Kubota, (2) Power Rakes for our skid steer's and they save allot of time. I would suggest the Harely Rake only because it digs down and rototills the soil while removing the rocks and gives a nice finished look with little to no hand raking. It does take some time to get it right and you have to carefull that you don't changed the grades. The power rake is a nice tool for newly graded loam and will not work if you try and use on an exiting turf, say for a renovation situation. All in all I would stick to the Harely rake, you should be good to go.

Do you think that my B3030 would be able to handle a T6?

I am looking really hard at a demo right now that has barely been used, but concerned that I may run short on horses.

Most kubotas dyno test a couple of hp higher on their pto's than they advertise. Its safe to assume that the 3030 is 25 hp @ the rear pto.

Depends. Harley is the best for bare dirt jobs. If you do a lot of overseeding into established turf I'd consider a different machine.

I am looking to add a Harley for new seeding and renovation seeding only.
I have a Landpride OS1548 for my overseeding. It works great!

Did you buy a power rake? If so, what do you think about it. What kind of over seeder do you have? I'm fairley new on here and was looking at some of you past posts.

I was close on several power rakes and never pulled the trigger. I couldn't decide if I wanted one for the back of my tractor or for a skid. It is a pretty large investment for no more then I was going to use it. They are mostly used on new lots...and housing market sucks here now!

I have a Landpride OS1548 overseeder and it is a slick piece of equipment. I seeded close to 30 acres with it this fall alone. Big money maker!

It is a great way to overseed, but I do a lot of new lawns with it also.
