Grass discoloration...Why

I looked at the fertilizer bags and the starter fertilizer we used was Pennington 18-24-6, and what I thought was lime was actually Supercal 98 MG Calicium carbonate. So I was correct earlier that calcium was what I put down instead of lime. What is the difference between this stuff and lime? I was told it did the same thing.

Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) = Lime
