generac engine
I was wondering if any one has run or used a generac engine?
The reason I am asking is the president of the bladerunner mower says he is going to try a 30hp v-twin generac engine this spring. He also says that he thinks that it will completly replace his 25hp kohler engines. He also said that there will be only a $200 price increase for the engine. |

I had a conversation with another mower manufacturer earlier this year and the subject of engines came up. The manufacturer was using a hodge-podge of different engines, Kohler, Kaw, B&S and Robin (Subaru). Don't get me wrong, the commercial versions of all of these engines are good engines. But I told them that although all of these were good engines they were not all highly respected by everybody out there. The manufacturer picked one of the best of the 4 and is sticking with that engine.
I know that Generac makes generators but I did not know that they made their own engines. I would tend to stay away from buying a mower with an engine that Generac makes. Why? Say I buy the mower and the dealer goes out of business. Where do I go to buy parts for the engine? I'm talking about basic everyday parts like air filters, oil filters, ignition coils, starters and the like. I guess you could order them from Generac but who's got 2 weeks to wait for a starter? |

Oh yeah, what's the question in your poll? Why you would buy a Generac or why you wouldn't buy a Generac?

I just got in from mowing and we stopped at our local d/c dealer and I asked him about generac engines. He said that they make a very good generator engine but he has not seen or run a generac v-twin. However he did say that d/c is looking at the 30hp v-twin engine also. and he expects them to be available next spring.

I have a generac engine on my generac 5500xl generator.Based on my experience with it,yes I would most definetly buy a generac engine. You would have your parts the next day,if you needed them.I bought mine on E-bay,and some parts were missing,I E-mailed generac, and asked them to send me the stuff I was missing,I told them to bill me,2 days later,I got a box full of parts from them, spare filters, tune up kit,30 amp twist plugs, all the manuals,12 volt leads, extra fuel cap,all maintance manuals, and instructions, with part#'s.All of this-no charge, even though I told them I bought it as a display off E-bay.I wish every company handled customers this way.I know they sent me at least 75 dollars worth of product(retail),they have me as a customer for a long time.My generator runs great, smooth powerful, uses no oil, even after 20 hrs of run tilme in 90 degree august heat at 3/4 load.I recommended Generac to my in laws, and cousins, who both bought them after trying mine,so the good customer service they gave me paid off for them.

my poll is basically to see what everyone thinks about the basic things that I have listed on the generac engine. I would probably not buy a new bladerunner, dixie chopper or make of mower using a gas engine after purchasing my new diesel! but I am still curious about generac and also it might be an alternative to some of the other troublesome gas engines. By the way eric did you give mr. hill a call at bladerunner? |
