I was asked the other day by someone that saw me cutting from a distance if I had bought a gas mask. I guess I do look a little wild with goggles, dust mask, hat, ear plugs all in. But, I wouldn't have it any other way especially this time of year. Leaf dust is the worst on my lungs.

I know I breathe in alot of dust, but I just cannot stand those little dust masks where you breathe in your own breath.

Lawnworks,

Nice setup! The earmuffs also cut down on the Q-Tip bill ! Not to mention they keep your ears warm too! Now you need something to keep that grin off your face!

Just noticed that your picture was taken with engine off (hopefully)! As your brake is on, your tires are pointed in the opposite direction as your locked and loaded arms keeping those levers foreward!!

Keep on grindin'

Actually your wrong, its this new black fescue we're secretly working on over here in Germany. It's going to replace asphalt roads as you know them, and give us more work!

I was wearing just a dust mask while on the mower and safety glasses when weedeating. Until the other day when a tree limb smashed into the tearduct of my eye almost hitting me directly in the eye. So I have tried wearing saftey glasses with the dust mask but the safety glasses keep fogging up. I need me some of them goggle. I dont like the plastic ones that are uncomfortable and they must work with the mask.

When I first saw the pic, I thought it looked pretty silly. Then today I did my first attempt at mukching leaves with doubles and a mulch kit on my Metro. OH MY GOD! It was almost unbearable!
The blow out was ridiculous. Besides being incredibly dirty, it just wasn't very efficient.
The way the leaves were just blowing forward ahead of the mower reminded me of that comedy routine were ya go to pick up a hat and keep kicking it forward every time you bend over to pick it up!
Plus I had to keep stopping to clear of the deck.

Then I remembered someone saying to go in reverse (I think it was Casey). Wow! What a difference! Blow out almost gone completely, no more chasing down leaves, and leaves shredded to dust. Grass looked great.

BUT (yeah, there's a but), on my 36" Exmark Metro there is only a "reverse assist", which isn't much help. I was basically just pulling the mower around backwards. Not easy!

So on a mower with a real reverse, and on a fairly flat lawn, this works great. I may have to try something different for my mower though.
