Lazer/Lazer H.P. Fires

WE had a Lazer H.P. Burn up a couple of days ago for no
apparent reason. There was no Leaves Grass or clippings ETC.
The Motor area and especially the Carb area seems to be where it
started.
Was in a enclosed trailer.
I have been made aware of other HP Fires so thought I would check here.

This is one of the hazards of enclosed trailers. It is also not the first time I have heard of an Exmark burning either. This is a quote from a message posted on AOL a while ago:

Subject: EX-Mark Burns Friend
Date: 9/29/99 9:09 PM Eastern Standard Time
From: XXXXXXX

I heard today from local lawn guys mom that he was burned badly.. She said his mower (EX-Mark) blew up on him and burned him ,when refueling. He was in his enclosed trailor and he opened the cap and fumes where pushed out due to the expanded gas tanks and was ignited by the hot muffler .. He got a new mower out of it and
some and some cash from exmark... I have a Toro and gas tanks are the same on it.. So just a word of caution Be Carfull when refueling. I'm glad to say he is ok except for burns on his arms ,legs , and neck. Thank God for Carhartt ....Maybe Ex-Mark should fix the problem or change its name to "Burn-Mark"

WOW!!!!!!
I have read posts about the members turning the fuel shutoff off and letting the motor stop on its own before they were done loading equiptment. Do you do this? Mabey the gas laid in the carb, and leaked out and started the fire. Lucky nothing else caught on fire!!!
On this subject, how many of you use the spark arrester screen for their lazers that exmark sent out?

Are the gas caps vented? Has anybody else had a mower burn?

Those spark arrestor screens that everybody got in the mail are ALSO a vapor arrestor screen. Preventing gas vapors from rushing into the red hot but quickly cooling muffler. The muffler would suck gas fumes from the stupid LCO's poor refueling practices. These mowers go at least all day on a full load of fuel, so there is no practical reason to be refueling a hot engine.

Not they will not run all day even if you fill both tanks to over flowing.

Only about 7-8 hrs of straight mowing and then you have to refuel and if the grass is really thick you'll get even less then that.

I've not set either of my Toro's on fire yet but I did set one of my excel hustlers on fire when I used it to pick up leaves( the exhaust exits between the front tires)
