Look on craigslist I just got one Stihl ht101 in almost new condition for 300 there is one on there right now in my area for I believe around 400. It is the best thing in the world paid for itself in one job.

I like my Stihl Kombi with the pole saw attachment, its about 600 when you get the powerhead, extension, and pole saw, but you can use the powerhead for so many other things it might be worth it for you. Its nice and long too.

Echo PPT 260.....17" 8" so you can cut from the ground. With this tool you can do other tree work and make the money back quickly. Unfortunately we sometime have to rent a high lift chair for some palms and it is scary going up real high in those chairs so better to stay a little lower and use the big extension pole saw.

Either go to Pawn shops or look on Craigslist.

If you don't want to buy used, you are going to pay 400 or more and you really need to get the biggest you can afford to buy so that as your customers trees grow, your pole saw can grow with you.

Or you can get a manual saw for about $40 or $50 from Home Cheapo and use it until you can justify the need for a power pole saw.

Echo ppt260. If you cannot find one used, just buy a brand new one. Yes they are expensive, pushin like $600, but you will make that back in no time flat trimming palms. I got one like 3 or 4 years ago, I cannot even remember now, and it has paid for itself many, many, many, many times.

I think aside from echo blowers, the pruner is the best thing that echo makes...

I would recommend the Stihl, cause they make killer saws, but I believe the Echo reaches like a foot taller......

another vote for the echo ppt 260. i made the mistake of buying the shorter pole saw at home depot. now i am in the market for the ppt 260. we have a lot of palm trees in florida and it is easy to recover the initial investment.
