The bulk of what we order is place between Mid Aug and Mid Sept.

Special order items need to start being placed in February. (large trees etc)

It works a lot like the lawn mowing business. Where do you find people willing to pay you to mow the lawn? Except you run into a lot of people who hate ladders, so they pay a little more....

We dont hang homeowner lights. Too much of a hassle. The people that want you to hang their lights are usually looking for a great deal "What do you mean you wont come to my house for $100?"

There are plenty of people that dont like ladders, roofs or taking the lights down for that matter. We provide everything from design, install, maintenance, take down and storage. Homeowner doesnt have to worry about anything.

We got lucky, no snow or rain during take downs. Even had a couple days in the hight 50's. We got our last job down on Jan 29.

we finished Feb 5th. around 170 jobs or so. we got some snow and ice in Jan, but we worked through most of it. There's a huge catch 22 in this business. you really only make money off jobs that run in the 800 and up price range for the rehang year after year, and that means around 1500 and up the first year when they buy everything from you. yet most folks won't pay that unless you have several years experience. So many times you have to do what you can the first few years and then draw a line about not hanging homeowner lights after that point. we only got 12 customers our 1st year in NW Arkansas back in 2001. 7 years later it is a substantial 250k business. but the first 3 years? not so much. Give me another 4-5 years and we will be running close to 1/2 million in sales per year in Christmas light install. but It takes 12 years to get there in my market.
