I was just wondering if anyone has tried a telemarketing service for your advertisment? Yellow Pages are good, fliers are good, but what about telemarketing? I for one hate those type of phone calls but with all off the telemarketing it must work.

i've never done it, but get calls from companies all the time.

just make sure you get a proper list of homeowners and their location. no sense in wasting time calling apt's, etc.

but make sure your tough skinned, could be a downer getting constantly hung up on.

Thanks for the reply B.B. I would get an agency to do the calling. My friend read an article about an lco in bussiness for 20yrs and said in the last two years using a telemarketing service he gained more work than in the first 18yrs.

Got a call today from the marketing manager of a telemarketing Co. Not a huge business. Just a small building. I asked for a price for 500 qualified leads. No sales, mind you. They will basically be asking if they are interested in a price quote. I figured $1.00 per lead might be fair, and would have paid that.
He told me they would achieve that goal in one day and the cost would be $10.00 per lead. $5,000.00!!!!!!!! Enter plan "B"

Hey Matthew i think we're in the wrong line of work. Man i find it hard to believe they can charge that much. I will have to get a price for it in early spring.

Matthew - I was actually surprised at how reasonable those leads were, if they are in fact good leads.

Besides, can you canvas 500 leads in a reasonable amount of time?

Maybe you just hire them for 100 leads. Ought to keep you busy for awhile.

WAIT A MINUTE!!

Matthew and Stonehenge. Think about what kind of leads your gettin if they are getting 500 in a day. How many of those will you sell??

You have to think about the way they market. There are many people out there that are "soft" and let themselves get talked into things just to shut this guy up. Also, how do you know he or she isn't pushing you for your LOW LOW LOW prices?? I wouldn't trust anyone doing that for my company unless I wrote the script myself. I just wouldn't trust those kind of leads for $10 a pop!

See if you can try like 25 or 50, just to see what your luck is at it without blowing a lot of cash. And talk with those "leads" and ask them what got them sold by the telemarketer. You may learn a little more about what they are doing to get all these leads if nothing else.

I'm not trying to argue, just bringing a different perspective to the table.

I agree with Guido, as usual his insight is invaluable. The leads may be colder than you think.
