Truck loader conversion

I have a Billy goat truck loader that I don't use very much in the summer and thought of turning it into a straw blower during these months.

Has anybody blown straw with one of these?

I think I am gonna try it.

I have never blowen straw but from looking at pictures of the equipement, it is altogeather different than a leaf blower. Go take a look in person.

I did the conversion. I made a simple hopper and am gonna buy a hose for the exhaust side of the chute for spreading straw.

I don't know why gene gls said they're totally different setups. Look close at the leaf loader and the straw blower. They both have the same type of fan.

I'm not saying they are the same, I'm saying the principle is the same.

For small jobs, it will work great.

I have never blown straw and have never studied a straw blower up close so I may be talking out of turn. However what little I have seen of a straw blower one big difference is the cutting of the straw. It appears to me that they work MORE LIKE A CHIPPER THAN A VAC. I have only seen these working from a distance. They had several bales of hay lined up being fed into one end and schreaded straw coming out the other. I grew hay for 12 years and I can asure you it takes some work (power) to schread a bale of hay. Maybe lose hay will blow through ok but how are you going to get lose it to start with?

I have dreamed up a million ideas of things to built, only to realize they would not work or cost more to built than to buy. But I keep dreaming because once in a great while I hit on a good one. Dreaming is good for your mind. I wish you well and if you check it out and built it I wish you good luck
