What's the diff between edger/trimmer?

Hello again,

I noticed that some posters refer to the edger and trimmer as if they are two separate peices of equipment.

What's the difference between them?

And edger uses a metal blade to cut the edge. The trimmer is the string one. Trimmers are bent or straight shaft. Edgers can be bigger walk behind things, or stick edgers, either bent or straight shaft.

Yes they are.... The trimmer is used to trim grass (Horizontal cut) around the house.
A edger is used to edge the grass (Vertical cut) sidewalks.
