Why settle? Just pay for the Toro now ('01) and take delivery in Jan. It's not like you're going to use the mower in Ohio in December or January.

Very good point Richard. Tax advantage now, but your warrenty will start when you recieve the mower too.

I have both brands of engines. I think the're both reliable. Briggs seems like it has a little more torque - but a slightly louder exhaust. My Kawasaki's are smooth and mellow sounding with no vibration. Each has it's strong points, I don't think you can go wrong either way you choose.

BRIGGS=BROKE
I have never had good luck with a Briggs product. I have only used their light-duty stuff(not Vanguard or Daihatsu Briggs). The higher grades may be better, but the name Briggs and Stratton gives me the same squishy feeling in my gut as Crapsman.
Every Briggs I have used has developed carb/starting problems at an early age. They also run ridiculously rough compared to Honda, Kohler, or Kawasaki. On a lot of smaller equipment you get to choose between Briggs or Honda, and beleive me if you don't spend the extra $ for the Honda you will spend it on ASPIRIN because BRIGGS will give you a BIG HEADACHE!!! Well put Albemarle Lawn
I have a few things with B&S on them, Hard to start is the only problem I've had except on the peco vac they didn't even last a season. So I try to stay all Kohler, or Honda on the smaller equipment. |
