i personally like the ford inline six 300cc.i have had several trucks with that motor over the years and they will pull whatever a small v8 will with better gas mileage.i still have a 78 ford f250 flatbed with a beefed suspension that still gets 13 mpg pulling a 10 foot trailer with the bed loaded with grass cuttings.had the motor rebuilt twice.it has a C6 automatic transmission rebuilt once.

hmm
oh yea its beeen pulling great. .no problem
oil leak is coming from the oil pan, near where the transmission meats.
im going to get it checked out that a shop most likely .

we use a ranger to tow a 17' boat that is quite heavy and have no problems
