Cabover's Isuzu, gmc
Hi guys.
I'm Getting a w5500 GMC cabover with a 109Wb. The body CO. says I can fit a 12ft dump body on this chassis with a plate hitch. Does any one have a 12 ft bed with a hitch on theirs? And what's your thoughts? Thanks.

Are you sure that that is the wheel base. It sounds like the CA (cab to axle distance).
That would be very close to the CA on my Isuzu FRR ...same truck as your W5500. Yes, it will handle a 12' dump body. I don't think that is a wheelbase dim. since the cab is 6' long.

I have a short W/B Mitsi with a 10' dump body. There is not enough over hang in the back. If it gets loaded too far forward, 2+ yards stone or top soil, the hoist will not pick it up. Be sure to get a smooth steel floor so your loads will slide off easy.

A 12' dump on a chassis with a CA of 88" seems wrong. Where are the hinge pins located? That puts the tailgate 56" behind the end of the chassis.......

The Chevy W-series 5500 is the same as an Isuzu NRR, not the F-series. The front axle is set back further on the cab, which is why the cab/axle-wheelbase difference is so small.

I have 2 W4500s with 109" Wheel bases. You will only be able to get a 10' box at best on your truck there.
