1500 Hemi vs. F150 5.4

With fuel being close to $5/gallon and the truck being too much to run I am getting rid of the diesel and buying a 1500 Quad Cab with the Hemi or an F150 with the 5.4 Triton. I will be pulling a 6x12 trailer twice a month with mowers, barrel, and hand tools and some weekends be hauling my quad around. I two my 5600# boat twice a year, so the 1/2 ton truck will be fine. The truck will be primarily be my daily driver to my job at a local high school.

Dodge is offering $13k off the sticker plus the Lifetime warranty on the 1500's. I have talked to a few people who own Hemi's and they average around 350 miles per tank and see 17mpg on the highway at 65mph. Around town is 13-14 mpg.

Ford is only offering $2500 or so off the price plus 5.9% for 60 months, thats it. Don't really know about the miles per gallon on these trucks but will probably be test driving one tonight. If anyone has any info on these trucks it would be much appreciated.

Any feedback or information on these trucks would be much appreciated.

The mileage claims from the people you talked to about the Hemi trucks is about 5 mpg higher than what I've ever heard anybody else claim. 12-13 highway is more what I've heard. I don't know if they're driving like idiots, but this is without trailer.

IA, everyone says that but apprently with the new MDS system on the Hemi trucks it gets 17mpg highway empty. I am going to check out the Ford tonight, but I think it may be too expensive for me. We shall see.

I've got an 07 F-15o with the 5.4, you can expect 16-17 Highway and 13-14 around town...I average 14-15 usually per gallon. Definately not cheap on gas...350 miles on a tank is about right.

I do slightly better than that with my Lightning (supercharged 5.4), which surprises me. A K&N system made a huge difference im my mpg, don't know if it would have the same effect on a N/A engine though.

Take a look at those to and also, if you want to also check, you could try chevy/gmc. I see where you are going with getting rid of the diesel. Yea, they may get good mpg's but at that $5.00+ price per gallon, its not looking so good. Good luck with your purchase.
