Wheel motor vs Hydro Pump

Any easy way to tell which one is going bad? On Z turns with seperate right and left Hydro's and wheel motors.... just looking for symptoms of each problem.

Do a search here.....the topic has been posted to death in the past. U need to do a flow test and wheel motor stall test..............to do it right.

mowerman is right.

Although probably 90% of the time it will be the pump, when all is said and done you are probablty better off replacing both at the same time.

I lost a pump at 110 hours on a brand new Toro Z, now it is in the shop again at 140 hours with no power on the left wheel again. This time I think it might be the wheel motor because it didn't blow all the oil out all over.

You can toast a new pump in very short time. When unit is brand new or you just did a fluid change you need to bleed all of the air from the system, make sure all lines are tight and not leaking air or fluid, use the right oil, make sure engine rpms are set right, make sure to run at no less than 3/4 throttle when moving machine ...which means anything from moving it ten feet to actually using it, make sure the pump belts and pulleys are in good shape and not slipping. That is just a few basic reasons you can toast a pump in short time. If you don't have the guages to test the hydro system, take it to a qualified shop.
