It was a birthday present. I have been wanting one for sometime as when I was a kid I spent hours at my great grandfathers house driving it around his 2 and 1/2 acres.

I plan on mainly using it to just push snow in the winter. My mother and step father have the one from my childhood and it is in much better shape body wise, but needs some mechanical loving to get it back in working condition. I plan to make it a project down the road.

In the picture I have just given it a much needed bath.

Now I just got to find room in my garage for it. I have a little John Deer LX279, Exmark Wb with a 52 inch deck, 2 21 inch mowers, a Billy Goat Leaf loader, various items belonging to my grandfather who owned the house previously before he passed away and I bought it, and my truck taking up floor space. Salvation Army is going to get a windfall when I make room for this and get rid of some of my grandfathers old junk.

After getting used to the Little John Deer Lx279 and driving this today - looking down the hood it is like going from a Mazda to a Lincoln. I am a big guy though and ironically enough I have more room on the John Deer then I have on the bigger Cub.

I have built several of those tractors into pulling tractors and yes you can run a Kohler command motor in that tractor without any problem.Hers a video of one.The only difference is that the one in the video is a 582 with a 3 speed tranny insted of a hydro.
