i love stihl equipment, however redmax and shindaiwa make great stuff. get what your preferred dealer sells.

most equipment is built to the same standards, so go w/ dealer support, there is a great thread that you got into a minute ago that has all the info about mowers.

the trailer you need depends on the equipment, i have had both and prefer open trailers b/c of the versatility that they provide to my company.

to start out you could just get a mower that fits in the smaller gate and use it on both yards. That would save a bunch of money. You could also with a bit of practice use a string trimmer to edge, some people will dissagree but i do it and it looks the same. You could also buy th kombi powerhead unit from STIHL and get all the attachments so you dont need to buy all seprate equipment. The last thing you want is to buy a ton of equipment and have to work for a long time to pay it off because they you arnt making a profit

WOW, I Just love new guys, there all excited,

about all the top end commerical equiptment is built very well, " it boils down to the ole ford chevy thing"

mainly for myself the equiptment I chose was because of the dealer, his location his number of years in the business,

Find your self a Dealer Colse by, interview him, see if there are any BBB reports on him, and see if there are any other same dealers in your area and MAKE THEN FIGHT FOR YOUR BUSINESS......
Check all the equiptment and see if it has the bells and whistles you want,
AND CHECK CONSUMABLES...... availabilty and price, such as oil filters, blades, air filters.

Best of luck to ya and Keep us posted.

Tools To Choose

Ive been doing it now for 10 years. If you have a toro dealer close by, go with the 32 walkbehind tbar steering. Saves your hands! Trigger machines are crippling!

Best bet would be a used one. New, they run well over $3K now. That machine will get into any gate you need. Runs forever and I swear by it! My third machine.

For ZTR Im a Grasshopper guy. My third one there as well. I retire them about every 3 years. So far well over 5000 hours on my Grasshoppers.

For handhelds, go with light weight but powerful. The longer you have to hold it the more you will appreciate it.

Lawn service is a simple business. Just show up! Give your customer a service day and never miss. They will keep you like the family dog. (they better. Youre working like one)

Grasshopper 52
Toyota Tundra
Toro 32 Walk behind (soon to upgrade to 34 ZTR)
Redmax
Stihl

Buy the best you can afford...it really doesn't matter as long as you have dealer support.
