ok the only thing i know is that it the belt goes thriugh 3 pulleys towards the back the other belt that is towards the fromt os fine! never had a mower of my own b4 so not sure on how to put it on? can i lay the mower on its side? all i know is that i have dropped the deck and that is where i am at!!

About laying it on its side?

Lay it one way and you will get oil in the carb.

Lay it the other way and you flood it with the gas from the carburetor bowl.

If it is electric start, laying it either way will leak battery acid, if it has a conventional battery.

Best way = Remove battery, drain carb bowl, then tilt with the carburetor up.

As someone else before has indicated, if you don't really identify the beast, it's pretty hard for anyone to help. I'm assuming this is what is generally referred to as a lawn tractor, and not something like the riding mower in the Forrest Gump movie. I've never seen a White tractor, but I think the general layout of all lawn tractors are the same. First question is, why would you want to lay the tractor on its side? It doesn't make much sense to me to even consider doing that. 2nd question...Is this a PTO belt you are talking about or the belt on the deck that spins the blades? Assuming it's the former, there are often two PTO belts side-by-side that are driven by pulleys on the engine crankshaft, and those belts, in turn, drive the power take-off shaft pulleys. And there should also be a couple of idler pulleys that are spring loaded to keep tension in the belts. The other side of the PTO shaft drives the mowing deck. Let me know if I've guessed correctly so far.
