Ferris Mower leaving strips uncut near the middle of the deck
I have talked to a few diffrent local landscapers and none of them have this problem. For whatever reason I get a row of stragglers about an half inch to an inch wide. Its near the middle of the deck. I have sharpened the blades numerous times and it'll go away for a little bit, then it returns. I checked the blades again and they are still nice and sharp. It seems to happen more when the grass is a bit longer. I think that it's really annoying to have to go back and cut a second time because the mower didn't get all of the area, especially directly in the middle of the deck.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My Wright Standers do this also.. PAIN IN THE BALLS... according to Wright "maybe the blade pitch is off" blah blah... my blade pitch is spot on and they STILL do it... idk...
I have this problem with all 4 of my 48" mowers but my 61" leaves a perfect cut every time... |

I've had that happen to me in really really thick stuff...did a test for a company in a converted farm field and it left some of these if you didnt go real slow. Slow down a tad and see if it helps.

Yeah, I've tried going at a near crawling pace and still get the same results. Anyone tried a diffrent blade and had better luck with it? I sharpen the blades myself regularly and then make sure they are balanced which they are.

Any buildup on the deck, baffles, or skirt could add to this problem.
How much blade overlap is on the 48"? |

I haven't had any build up at all under the deck. I had a plastic bag somehow get under there and wrap itself around the spindle but that has been gone for weeks and I still have the same problem. I would think the two blades would be close enough on the 32 not to have a gap in the middle of the lawn left uncut.

I have had this same problem with my Grasshopper 223 w 61" deck. I have come to the conclusion that is has something to do with my anti scalp roller in the middle of the deck. If i am mowing short green bermuda it likes to stand straight up i dont have any probelms georgous cut, but if im mowing bermuda that is a taller and more scragaly (sp) it doesnt like to stand up as much it tend to get pushed over and stay down insted or standing back up.

Thing is.. I don't have a anti scalp roller on the middle of the deck. So that puts my problem out of the picture.

No I haven't. I thought I would get some more information before I made a purchase. Should I be looking at the High lift or the magnum/high lift?
