here are more of the machines i found....overall there were (3) 330's, (2) 345's, (1) D8, (1)D7, and an 853 pipelayer....i would have loved to see the piplayers on this job..the pipe was 36" pipe and in the wet areas it was concrete coated so i am sure they had some big layers...maybe if i swing out there next week they might have them onsite
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() this guy came a long way...i am guessing it is the welding crews pipelayer ![]()

I would LOVE to be on a pipeline crew. Always white knuckling through the woods on steep slopes. I am finally officially pipeline certified, got my card in the mail 2 weeks ago. About time, took the test and all that good stuff about 4 months ago during training. Sometime during my lifetime I'd like to travel with a pipeline crew.

heres just a crumby video of 4-wheeling through the "access roads" that the state forest opened up for the pipe crews

What's the chunk of plating for on the blade of the D7? I'm thinking a laser mount, or an anchor point at best?
That "mesh" bucket on the 330DL is for digging in trenches that are full of water (to keep them from collapsing), the mud stays in the bucket and the water passes out, I've seen that used before, it also makes a good ditch cleaning bucket. |

Quote:
the mesh bucket is for backfilling...i went out there friday when they were working (when i discovered the job) and the 330 was up on the hill and he would pick up a bucket then shake it to put fine dirt around the pipe...once the pipe was covered he would scoop whatever he could and cover the rest, as you can tell the pipeline here is going through a mountain so it is rock and more rock...they don't want to larger rocks next to the pipe....i wouldnt want to be the operator on the machine, it looked like he was really getting jared around by shaking fines out of his bucket

this particular area was in a valley between peaks where a stream flows....the site on friday was bone dry, thats why i was hoping i would be able to drive it in my truck, but it rained the last 2 days here so when i got out there i didn't want to risk getting stuck with nobody around to pull me out (i didn't even have cell phone service)...so i just got out and walked on top of the pipe line out of the mud
the crew must have worked in the rain saturday because i don't know why else their machines would be so muddy...regardless they will have their fun tomorrow when they get out there and can't drive their trucks to get to the machines
