Best POWER to PRICE ratio on weed eaters..HELP!

Does anyone know what the best weedeater is?

I want enough power to cut a car in half, but I don't want to take out a second mortgage to buy it or suspend it from a crane while using it.

I've been ooogling over the Stihl FS250R. It has a 40cc 2 stroke and weighs 13 lbs.

Does anyone have one for sale?????

Brian

I meant a used one for sale.
I know the FS250's are $500. I just didn't want to choke up that much money. I was curious about an alternative model that might have as much power as the FS250 but cost less.

I think the best power to price would be the Kaw kgt27 at 1.6hp and well under 300bucks. I am a owner of one of these, but I do not beleive they give 1.6hp. My favorite trimmer is my Echo280s. It is alittle more on the price side but has tons of power and is smooooth running. The stihl 250 is a good trtimmer but it is alittle large for every day in my opinion. My twin pennies worth.

Sorry bout the mess up. But to answer ur question I personally use a redmax 3000 any where from 350.00 to 400.00 new. Ive ran my 3000 next to my fs 250 not much difference in power and felt better to.

.

and it only weights 10.2 pounds. I've seen them on line for $280-$290. Very nice and light, with good power. Can use all day and doesn't get heavy.

We have a 3000 as well as two stihl rx100's and many husqvarna 323's and 326's.

The 3000 runs like new after almost two full seasons---that may not sound like much but to put it into perspective we wear out the husqvarnas in 1 to 1.5 seasons and the stihls have broken 2 driveshafts and one gearbox in their first season (and it's not over yet).

Although the redmax has held up beautifully I'd recommend the husqvarnas for price, power to weight ratio, and ease of use (nice balance). As long as you don't use them as hard as we do you should get several years out of a $300 trimmer. They are one of the lightest out there too.

Agreed. It is my new favorite trimmer. Check with your local Lesco/JDL. They were closing out the line and lots of people were getting them for about $235.

The FS 100RX has 31.4cc 4-MIX 4-cycle and weighs 10.4lbs. Just make sure you run either the Stihl Ultra or Amsoil Saber oil in it at 50:1 with 93 octane ethanol-free gas, and it will run great for a long time for you. I have used one, and it has the best power and torque in the world. Only need to use it at half throttle or less it's got so much power. It's VERY quiet too.

It is priced at $329 at your local STIHL dealer. The only issue is that it doesn't have a solid shaft to make it attachment-capable.
