My wife and I recently moved into a brand new house with a yard that was sodded on September 26th. After roughly 5 weeks, the yard is what I would call medium hard; not too soft yet not a mature-feeling yard.
As with any new home, we had to have the cable line buried after it was run from near the sidewalk, around the side of the driveway and up onto the house. Instead of notifying me that the burial was happening today (I scheduled it for Nov 4th), I came home to find tracks all over my side yard with clay mud showing in a few areas. Yep, the cable was buried without me being present or even notified. Since it is fresh sod, I'm interested in what this community would recommend that I do to level the yard back out and ensure the health of the grass. The sod has taken root so lifting and replacing is out of the question at this point (which I've had to do once due to the wife backing over a corner of the yard). Thanks in advance for the help. Looking forward to becoming a part of this community. |

I asked that when I bought the house and the builder didn't have an answer. Since I'm a lawn care newbie I'm not sure myself. I plan to take photos this evening of the damage which I can post here for review.

You can try rolling it. Find out what type of grass it is, and fill the deeper ruts with topsoil and reseed.........

If it is bermuda the ruts could just be filled in with masons sand and will fill in quick.

Thanks for the tips so far.
After talking with a neighbor, I believe the grass to be a fescue. I'm not sure the exact variety though. |
